Create a project

Set up Studio and get the keys your app and backend need.

Everything in Voidhash lives inside a project: products, perks, paywalls, customers, and revenue. Projects belong to an organization, so you can keep separate apps, environments, or clients under one login. This page walks you through creating a project and collecting the keys your app and backend need.

Create the project

  1. Sign in to Studio.
  2. Create or open an organization.
  3. Choose Add project and give it the name of your app.

The project gets a slug. That slug identifies the project everywhere: in Studio, in CLI configuration, and in API requests.

Copy the publishable key

Open the project's settings and copy the publishable key. Every project has two: a production key that starts with vh_pk_ and a test key that starts with vh_pk_test_. Ship the production key in release builds and on your live website, and use the test key on staging. See Environments for what each key reads.

Publishable keys are safe to embed in mobile apps. They identify the project, but they cannot read customer data, read revenue, or modify configuration. This is the only key that ever ships inside your app.

Keep secret keys off the device

Secret keys start with vh_sk_ (production) or vh_sk_test_ (test) and grant full access to the project. You only need one when your backend talks to the Voidhash API, for example for server-side entitlement checks or webhooks.

To create a secret key, open Settings → API keys in Studio and choose its environment: production for your production servers, test for staging servers and tests. The environment cannot be changed later. The raw value is shown once, so store it in an environment variable or your secret manager right away. Never put a secret key in a mobile app, a web bundle, or a repository.
